KIDS interactive wins German Educational Media Award digita 2013 for “TricKINO.de – Shoot your own animated film”
TricKINO.de, the online community for young animators was awarded the coveted digita award in this year’s DIDACTA education fair in Cologne in the “General education/Primary school” category. The online project realised by the Erfurt children’s media agency KIDS interactive with the support of the Federal governments “A Network for children” initiative convinced the jury of the most important German award in the education industry, which has been awarded for the last 18 years.
From the jury’s appraisal:
“The digita jury likes the playful manner in which TricKINO.de enables children and young people to try out being animated film producers. In various fields fields of action they find age-appropriate access to the world of animated film, look behind the scenes and implement their own ideas. The online offerings and the associated software represent a very appealing, simple to use and user-friendly tool. The combination of website and software is successful in the appealing uniform style in its graphic design. By creating their own profile children and young people can friend one another, upload their own videos and present them publicly. A private, specially design file format ensures the technical prerequisite for allowing videos and materials to continue to be used and edited in the community. The comment function supports communication processes about works created. As a result essential elements of the social network can be experienced at an early stage. Because TricKINO.de is a moderated community all set content – commentary and films – are under editorial observation. TricKINO.de is based on exploratory learning is exceptionally well-suited to the development of media competency in the target group during leisure time but also pedagogically accompanied in youth clubs and schools. This is why the digita jury expresses its recognition of KIDS interactive GmbH for the development of this exemplary tool and congratulates them for winning the digita 2013.“
